Back in the early 2000’s we had a deluge of rain and flooding in Queensland. At this time I was spending a couple of days with friends up country and was looking out at the rain the pouring down on the nearby hills and started to play my guitar. Before long I had the melody for ‘Rain In The Hills” A video of this tune can be seen on youtube Dave Loveland Rain in the Hills
When staying with the same friends I wrote a melody but did not have a title. Late that night I was gazing out of the window and thinking back on my musical journey over many years playing around Europe, Great Britain and finally Australia and thinking I never would have imagined ending up in Australia. Hence the title came to me “I Never Thought This”
The melody for” Remembering Bazza” was written when I was on holiday in Townsville, Queensland and thinking of a very dear musician friend called Barry who”s nick name was Bazza. We played together for many years in a country band called Canyon Express. He had become very ill and had finally gone into a coma. He had left instructions with his brother not to be resuscitated. When I returned to Brisbane I found out the family had let him go at five o’clock on the Saturday, this exactly the time I was writing ‘Remembering Bazza” Some coincidence....Dave Loveland
