ORIGINAL 70's VINYL COMPS OF 60's MUSIC REVISTED Vol 1 CD STYLUS
Stylus Music proudly presents "Original 70's vinyl compilations of 60's music revisited Vol 1" (10PTING 367)
Many early compilations of USA 60's instrumentals were only available as vinyl albums and we are addressing the balance to bring those excellent compilations to the CD market and as always offering value for money. The first album of its kind was probably in 1974 when the Union Pacific label issued a 16 track disc although the Fireballs track was by a different group and The Vigilantes were British although released on the Pye International label for some inexplicable reason.
11 of those tracks kick start this CD featuring the superbly obscure Ronnie & the Rainbows to The Fendermen, Duane Eddy, Scotty Moore and The Viscounts. Also of note is the opening cut from back in 1954 by Young John Watson with his exaggerated use of reverb and a quick few notes of the well known TV series 'Dragnet'. The remaining cuts are taken from the European Rockville label from the end of the 70s whose series ran to 4 titles, 16 tracks apiece with again choice cuts of material. These include the truly fabulous Rondels, Titans and Wes Dakus. The latter is purely in the Fireballs bracket whilst 'Las Vegas Scene; was composed by George Tomsco himself and has all the magic you might expect. The old favourite 'Theme from Dixie' was rearranged by Jimmy Ganzberg as 'Rebel Yell' whilst 'Joshua fit the battle of Jericho' is turned into a real superb rocker by The Mysterions. To close we have a group that actually appeared on the Billboard Top 100 with a tune called 'Fried Eggs' but in similar style, the New Jersey band The Intruders perform 'Morse Code' here.
