Here is another volume from the popular Rautalanka series Sadoin Sähkökitaroin which translates to hundreds of guitars. It contains a mix of vocal and instrumentals and features in Pipeline magazine.

The album will be opened by Eero and Jussi. The Eurovision candidate 1965 was originally released on an album with the accompaniment of the band The Boys, but now an orchestral version performed in the qualifiers is available. The brothers are also involved in the same year with the previously unreleased The Sounds under the name "Kasakkatango" intended for the Japanese market, where it never ended up. With these performances, we warmly remember Jussi, who died this year, and everything he accomplished during his long career. I can assure you that it was not a small amount.
Eddy & The Lightnings was once a popular band, especially in the Hämeenlinna region, and recorded three singles. The performance you can hear now has been released under the name Eddie.
No further information can be found about the Tony Ramon & Blue Combo lineup - it has even been thought to be foreign. Originally, the band was actually Erkki Liikanen's band. Tony's real name was Reijo Hirvelä, who later recorded more under his own name. Blue Combo also did a few gigs, with the lineup being roughly Reijo Hirvelä (vocals/guitar), Erkki Liikanen (vocals/drums), ex-Strangers Kari Bergström (bass) and Roy Rabb (steel guitar).
The Savages recorded the most in Finland during the wire-tape era, now there are two radio recordings available. The sounds are what they are, now the rarity value matters. Two other performances have been released earlier, but we ended up including the stereo versions that were edited later. Usually post-stereos are doomed to fail, but what do you think of these?
Timo Jämsen & The Esquires is also a familiar and safe case, from whom we have previously released one version of “Yyteri twist”. This is an unreleased second take from the same session. The Wanderers have also been well represented before, but we found one more song. The Four Devils have only been included for one song, so here is the second one.

This year marks 60 years since the release of a song that has earned the status of a classic in Finland, The Loaferis & Ronny: “Se jokin sinulla onn”. The band’s name was wrong on the single label, the correct form is Loafers. The recording can still be heard on the radio sometimes and has remained in the repertoire of many dance and rock bands. This is a special case in that the song did not have any chart position in 1964, moreover, it was the B-side of the single. The A-side “Diggety doggety” was a hit, but unfortunately the Swedish The Streaples managed to reach the top 20 in the Suosikki statistics first with their version. However, the Finnish version once appeared in third place on the radio’s “Kahdeksan kärjessä” program. The song was originally recorded by the American Johnny Cooper (1962).

The B-side was a British song, Gerry and The Pacemakers' "You've Got What I Like", which was released as an LP insert in 1963. The composer was soloist Gerry Marsden, who later had no idea that it would be his best-known song in Finland. In 1964, the song was also released as the B-side of a single and, most amazingly, even in a Finnish edition. That's where it was apparently found for recording in Finnish. It and "Diggety doggety" were translated by Juha Vainio. According to Junnu's lyric discography, "Diggety" was his eighth recorded lyric, the flip side only his 24th.

The Loafers were originally a dance band, but when the ironclad fever hit Finland with The Sounds' "Emma" in 1963, everything changed - the accordions and horns were replaced with electric guitars and a new name was adopted. The band was from Lahti and initially played instrumentals and, as can be seen from the album, they played well.
However, the popularity of Rautalanka quickly passed and it was time to start including singing in the repertoire. Jouko Kuitunen, who played in the band, said in early 1965 in Iskelmä that Karri (Ilkka Kaivola) started as a soloist in 1963, but the position ended shortly after Karri joined the army in the autumn. There are differing memories of Karri joining, but I will refrain from writing contemporary information.
When The Loafers had no desire to sing on their own, a new permanent soloist had to be found somewhere. One was found during a gig at the Hamina Autumn Market in 1963, where the soloist of The Freedoms from Karhula, Aatos Bollström, was recruited to Lahti and named Ronny. The Freedoms' guitarist was Aimo "Lusu" Ahlqvist, who later drifted into criminality and was shot in 1995.
Although The Loafers & Ronny's first single did not chart, they did get gigs and publicity, and even a contract to appear in the film "Rautalankahurmio" planned by Maunu Kurkvaara. Unfortunately, the film was never made. An incredible number of gigs were played in the summer of 1964, mainly at the Suomen Tivoli. The popularity was wild - 15 torn performance costumes. Then it happened that Ronny jumped aside and returned to his hometown, continuing his career more as a hit soloist. He died in a car accident in February 1971.
A commendable number of recordings of Ronny and the band have survived. The technical level does not always meet standards, but the sound is genuine and proves the breadth of Ronny's skills, from "Tutti Frut" to "Vihreisiin niittyihin". Ronny's personal favorite was Paul Anka and he was even called the Finnish Paul Anka. According to confirmed information, previously unreleased material is from 1963, recordings from 1964.
In the fall of 1964, Karri returned as a soloist. In the same rush, some players also changed, the reason being the army. A single "Anna pois" / "Ota pois" was made with Karri, which was completely ignored and has not been reissued before. The band continued until around 1965, information about the last gig has not survived. This was the story of The Loafers in a nutshell. Or not exactly, namely in 1967 a reprint of the band's first single was released.  Wriiten by HANNU NYBERG, Finnish rock blogger
