ORIGINAL 70’s VINYL COMPILATIONS OF 60s MUSIC REVISITED Vol 2 CD STLYUS
More titles only ever released on vinyl begin with Am. Instr vol 1 that was originally issued in 1979. The first 18 tracks are all taken from this disc, mostly recorded during the early 60s except a few from 59 including Bobby Vee with the Shadows for ‘Flyin’ High’. Other notables that year were from Ronnie Hawkins and his band on ‘Cuttin’ Out’, The Rockin’ R’s with the earthy rocker called ‘ The Beat’ plus a variant on ‘Guitar Boogie Shuffle’ from The Admiral tones called ‘Rocksville Pa’. That first disc also included a follow up by The Rockin’ R’s ‘Humbug’ in the style of Johnny & The Hurricanes. An unusual cover of the blues song ‘My Babe’ from The Stringalongs and a cover of a Carl Mann song from The Slaves in ‘Pretend’. The very rare 45 by Jon Cisco has a Fireballs connection as the composer is listed as Chuck Tharp, a great moody guitar piece. The Clee-Shays had Ed Fournier on guitar and made many albums under different names, often with Japanese themes. In 1966 they recorded Cliff’s old rocker ‘Dynamite’ written by Ian Samwell. The group turned the song into a really cool instrumental version.
