Stylus Music is proud to announce "U.K. TOP RANK INSTRUMENTALS Volume 3" (10PTING 374)

This is the third in a series relating to the Top Rank label, an offshoot of the giant Rank Organization. Its releases began in Jan 1959 and wound up in April 1962. It was bailed out by EMI 18 months from its start with both USA and UK releases and the ratio on this release are around 50/50. One of the last releases was  B .Bumble’s Nut Rocker, here we have the contrasting watery guitar track ‘Nautilus’.The Ventures ‘Walk don’t run’ was another biggie as was B. Bumble’s ‘Bumble Boogie’ (#7 USA). Around this time US hits were arriving from Sandy Nelson (Teen Beat) and Preston Epps (Bongo Rock) and smaller hits from The Fireballs such as ‘Bulldog’.

From the UK we had the talent of Bert Weedon, ‘Big Beat Boogie’ (#37), Apache (#24) and ‘Mr.Guitar’ (#47) from composers Marvin and Welch! Film themes include ‘Blind Date’ from the Pinewood Studio Orch and the unsettling ‘Faces in the dark’ played on an ondes Martenot. Other releases include the Joe Meek produced ‘Green Jeans’ that originally appeared on his Triumph label and Bert’s’ driving ‘Ghost Train’ as well as lot more great instrumentals. Volumes 1 and 2 are still available (Stylus 68 and 208) so get crackin’ !
