Q: Shipping to the USA.
Shipping to America is experiencing some changes over the coming days. As I am sure most of you know President Trump has put tariffs on all parcels coming into the USA from destinations worldwide and this comes into affect from the 29th August 2025. I am still unsure how this will work but I am lead to believe duties need to be paid before any shipment arrives in the USA , whether it is a gift (over $100) or goods from a business. From what I understand it is 10% plus a 50p handling fee per parcel. Sadly this cost will need to be added to shipments going into the US before Royal Mail or any courier will accept them. I am sure it will all work itself out but in the meantime please do bear with me.
I will email all customers that place an order from the USA to confirm and discuss this tariff. I am not in the office 25hours but I will email at the first opportunity. Please do check your junk and spam folders.
Gifts under $100 will not pay duties but there will still be a fee.

Q: Please see our DELIVERY section for shipping information. This can be found in the top navigation bar under 'More..' This includes the new EU changes that took effect from July 2021.
Q : I am using a mobile device (ie phone or tablet), how can I navigate and see everything ?
If you are using a tablet or phone you can click the 3 lines button to see all our menus, this is also known as either the 'hamburger' or 'blinds' button, this will only be visible on mobile devices. Also depending on your devices screen size, you will either see 1 or 2 products side by side, you can swipe sideways (on front page) as well as down (most product pages) to see more products. Also if you reach the checkout and wonder where all the information is, please either turn your phone/tablet sideways or swipe right/left. Just to give you an idea, our HOMEPAGE lists 20 items.
Q : Do you ship outside the UK ?
Yes, always aim to ship worldwide to various countries, unless (in rare cases) owing to ‘warfare’ , strikes or viruses, mailing services to that country have been suspended. For certain countries we strongly suggest Tracked or Signed and may decline shipping if Tracking or Signed is not requested.
Our website will work all costs out once you have inputted an address. Inputting your address does not commit you to buy and it tells the site where you are based so it is able to quote accurate costs. We are also happy to work out any shipping costs via email to. Office hours are Mon - Frid, 9am - 4pm GMT.
Everything is shipped STANDARD AIR MAIL. If you would like Tracked and Signed added or a courier to be used, please email us and we can happily do this. These services do incur a non profit extra cost. Please see our 'Delivery' page for more info.
PLEASE NOTE: We have found shipping to South Africa has become more problematic and as such we will email to confirm you wish to go ahead with the order. Orders to South Africa can take up to 4 months to arrive, if they arrive at all sadly.

We are a super small business and as such are now non-vatable. We do not add VAT to our RRPs but we do pay VAT on the products we buy.
Q : What if my order is out of stock or no longer available ?
We endeavour to keep our web site updated with ‘deletions’, but should your item be out of stock at the time of ordering you will be advised. We accept email, phone and post orders and as such it may cause an item to go out of stock before we can get to our website to alter it. In some cases we will be down to our last copy of something.
Q : Can I order without using your website ?
Yes, you can order by email, telephone or post.

Q: Can I send a Cheque?
Yes you may. Please make all cheques payable to J READ. Let us know via, phone, email or letter what you are ordering and your address. The website can work out the shipping cost or of course contact us and we shall do it for you. We only accept cheques/card/transfers in pound sterling. Q: Do you accept Bank Transfers?
Yes, in GBP. If TFR is selected as the payment method then I will forward the details needed to make payment during office hours. With International Bank Transfers please note all additional fees need to be covered by the customer, so we receive at our end the same total that is quoted for the order. This needs to be in GBP / Pounds Sterling.
Q : Can I ask for something that I can’t see on your website ?
Yes, if it’s generally available we’ll happily try and get it for you.
Q : Can I place an order for an item not yet released - Preorder/ New Release?
Yes, you can place a Pre-Release order. As soon as details of the new releases are available, you will be able to order via our Shopping Cart. Or alternatively you can email us advising us of your interest and we can email you back . If there is no green 'Add To Cart' on a New Release then be patient (or email) as it will appear. Please note orders that merge pre-release (new release) items with items that are already out will not be despatched until the order is complete. I can split orders if you change your mind or don't want to wait but please contact me to do this as it isn't automatic and additional postage may be needed. Please also see the below question.
If a NEW RELEASE/PREORDER order is merged with a regular order(contains items that are already released) the order will not be shipped until the New Release item gets released. This is purely because the shipping has been calculated at a combined cost which tends to work out cheaper due to Royal Mail weight brackets. Feel free to split your order before paying to avoid delay for items you want that are already released. Or contact us and we can split the order and calculate any additional charges. See the DELIVERY page for more info.
Q : Can I be linked to your website ?
Yes, on condition your ‘link’ is relevant to our customers and within our remit.
Q : Is my payment information secure ?
Yes, our site is secure, when you order via credit card you will see a padlock icon on your browser, this means your payment information is encrypted and can't be viewed by anyone except us. Other payment methods are also secure. Due to the Distance Act, your card is NOT charged unless the item is about to be despatched. This does not happen if you paid via Paypal with your card.
Q : What if I have a faulty item ?
Faulty CDs or DVDs may be returned for replacement – email us first. If a replacement is not available a full refund will be given
Q : How soon will I receive my order ?
See or DELIVERY page for more detailed information. This depends on day ordered, where you live, and the payment method used. If in the UK, and paying instantly via card or Paypal, (for a non new release) then your order should be with you within 3 to 4 working days if in stock. If ordered before 12pm we do our very best to get items out the same day, but this is not always possible. The majority of post is sent via Royal Mail. We ship Mon - Frid, last collection 3pm.
If overseas, then the time taken can range from 3 to 30 days, depending on country. Within Europe is quicker than say Australia. But your order will be sent via standard airmail, and within 2 (working) days of receiving your cleared payment if the items are in stock. Overseas orders can take a lot longer to arrive and there sadly isn't really a good guide line as it can vary.
99% of orders are shipped same day.
Some orders may take longer to be despatched if they contain 'preorders / New Release items. See above for more details.
Q : Do you offer downloads ?'
Currently we only offer literally a handful of Downloads but we are working on this. In the near future we are hoping to offer downloadable music from artists and groups that want (and are able) to participate. Due to various factors within download licensing, we will only be able to offer downloads where the artist and groups have gone through the correct channels when creating their albums/tracks.
Q : Data Protection Information
All information, including your email address, supplied to us is data protected and your details will not be passed to any third party.
Q : If you should have FREE SHIPPING appear at any point
Sadly this is a glitch and we do not offer free shipping. If you refresh (or alternatively press F5) your cart will correct the shipping to the correct amount. Feel free to email us if you have an issue or we will probably spot it as your order comes through.
Q : I am using a mobile device and I can't see the products or the checkout price info
To see products just keep scrolling down and they should appear, to see the price of items at the checkout drag your finger to the side to show more of the left and right of the screen, also turning your device sideways can also help. Everything is visible you just may have to move the screen with your finger to see all.
Q: Why does the little 'secure' padlock on my system show unlocked?
This is because you are just browsing a part of the website that isn't storing or asking for any data. As soon as you go to pay the site changes its security level.
